| In 2002, designer and artist Danielle Marinovich created the company Stitches For Bitches and the character Betty. Having been a Bay Area bartender for well over a decade and losing her only sister to breast cancer she wanted to do something creative and spread a positive message. Her love for things that sparkle ignited the SFB line. All SFB items are personally hand sewn by the designer. Danielle wanted all women to have something special and vowed to have a line that was not only original but also affordable and wouldn't break the bank of the average gal. During that first year Danielle wrote The Book About Betty and established the company motto We Are All The Same Under Our Skin. All the clothing from the SFB line is silk screened with the characters fromThe Book About Betty. Wanting to raise money for breast cancer research, Danielle will donate five percent of the profits from the sales of all Betty-related items to the Susan G. Komen foundation in memory of her sister and family friends who have lost their lives. After traveling for several years doing conventions and being the entrepreneur Danielle is, the Who's Your Betty? boutique opened it's doors in 2006. The success of the boutique is credited to the fact that Danielle supports local artists. There are also several national lines to choose from, some of which are on the Stitches For Bitches site . Today you can find Danielle either at the boutique or on the road traveling to promote SFB and Betty at select conventions. She is also currently working on a series of eight Betty books to follow the original in chronlogical order of her character, all which she promises to have a valuable life lesson. |
